Mr, Chhor Elit (Ta)

Hello, I’m Ta (Elit Chhor), a freelance professional licensed tour guide in Siem Reap Angkor.
I specialize in leading and operating general tours (photography the most) for Angkor temples, other remote temples, villages and wild life in Siem Reap and other area of Cambodia.

I’m a local photographer (free styles), insects/plants/wild animals/people/architecture...etc.

I’ve been doing these works for mostly 20 years.
I was born in the rural area of Siem Reap in 1977, middle of the genocide regime
In my nature, I like listening to stories/histories, experiencing different cultures from different areas of the country I spent my childhood as a city boy; always enjoying my time with local farmers just outside Phnom Penh. The civil war still existed until late 1997 when I moved to settle in Siem Reap .

My first work in tourism was for a mid range hotel, organzing tours and driving guests to Angkor temples and its surroundings. I trained to be a tour guide in 1999. I could share my knowledge of cultures, histories temples and the friendly people in the countryside; with my tour guests
I started working with photographers around the year 2000. In 2003 I met British photographer Dave Perkes who set up the Peace Of Angkor Tours, the first photo tour operation based in Siem Reap. As the lead guide and tour organizer, I was able to meet many photographers and as a result I gained more experience in photography.

I am very excited about photography It is a passion I have learned from all these amateur and professional photographers I have met, from around the World. When I lead a tour, I always enjoy seeing my clients taking great pictures and experncing their picture styles and equipment.
I couldn’t afford to buy a camera but Dave was able to lend me some of his professional camera equipments and help me learn photography.

In July 2008 I received a surprise gift of my first digital camera from my ex client sent from Singapore, and now I shoot with a Nikon DSLR.

Over last 10 years, I’ve been involve with photographer, clubs and groups from all over the worlds.
